Dry Needling
Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists certified to treat patients with dry needling for treatment of pain and movement impairments. Dry needling can be effective for various types of chronic or acute pain including sports injuries, back pain, fibromyalgia, migraines and chronic post-op pain. This technique often eases muscle pain and can result in increased flexibility and range of motion. Dry needling is a conservative treatment and an alternative to opioids. It assists in eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits. In most cases, improved mobility and decreased pain are immediate. A few weekly treatment sessions are usually recommended for a lasting effect.
Patients may benefit from dry needling if they have been diagnosed with:
- Migraine headaches
- Tension headaches
- Whiplash injury
