Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Nurse Recognized with DAISY Award
10/14/2024
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A nurse at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has been recognized with the prestigious DAISY Foundation Award. Hailey Pasko, R.N., emergency department, is the recipient of the DAISY Award for Third Quarter, 2024. The DAISY Foundation’s goal is recognition for the efforts of extraordinary nurses.
Pasko was recognized and presented the DAISY Award by Tammy Moore, network chief nursing officer, along with members of her emergency services team joined by additional hospital leadership. Moore also presented Pasko with a certificate, a hand-carved Healer’s Touch sculpture from Zimbabwe, a gift bag, daisies, and treats for her team that included cinnamon rolls and a large cake to share.
An excerpt from the DAISY nomination for Pasko submitted by her supervisor, Pam Jones, R.N., emergency services manager, reads: "Since her very first day at the hospital, Hailey has become the exact role model of what we instill in our employees. Everyone noticed her desire to step up and help. She’s helped out on short days, advanced to the preceptor role, and is now a lead charge nurse providing support and guidance to the staff, doctors, and patients.”
The DAISY Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
This is one initiative of The DAISY Foundation whose overall goal is to help fight diseases of the immune system. Additionally, DAISY offers J. Patrick Barnes Grants for Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Projects and provides assistance to ITP support groups. More information is available on their website www.DAISYfoundation.org.
