Red Hats for Babies Born at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center during American Heart Association Heart Month
Mooresville, NC– The Stork’s Landing Maternity Center at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is partnering with the American Heart Association during ‘Heart Month 2017’ in its Little Hats, Big Hearts initiative to raise awareness about heart disease, the No. 1 killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common birth defects in the United States.
The American Heart Association invites those in our community who knit or crochet to participate in the Little Hats, Big Hearts program by donating handmade baby hats for distribution to local hospitals. Red hats will be laundered, packaged, and delivered to participating hospitals. Hats in several different sizes, including preemie, newborn and three months will be delivered to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in late January to early February for distribution to babies born between Wear Read Day, Friday, February 3 through Congenital Heart Defect Week recognized annually from February 7 to 14.
Julie Mauney, Director of Women’s Services at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, commented, “The staff of the Stork’s Landing Maternity Center is very pleased to participate in a program that helps recognize and spread awareness about congenital heart defects and looks forward to supporting this initiative.”
